Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 2, 2026

Vrata ("the App") is developed by Manav Mehta. This policy explains what data the App accesses, what leaves your device, and how it is handled. In plain terms: the App has no account, no analytics, and no ads, and it keeps your practice data on your device. A few optional features send a request to an outside service, and those are described below.

No account, no tracking

Vrata has no user account or login. It contains no advertising framework and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not build a profile of you and does not sell or share data for advertising.

Data stored on your device

Your preferences and practice data (chosen tradition, language, theme, notification settings, fasting history, japa counts, reading progress, your chosen city) are stored only on your device using local storage. This data is not uploaded to us and we cannot see it. Removing the App deletes it.

Location

Location is optional. It is used to compute accurate sunrise, sunset, and Ekadashi timings for where you are. You can also skip location entirely and set a city by hand.

Story narration audio

Some stories offer optional spoken narration. When you tap to play, the audio file is streamed from our media host (a Cloudflare R2 bucket). As with loading any file over the internet, this request includes your device's IP address, which the host and its network may process to deliver the file. No other personal data is attached, and audio only loads when you choose to play it.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. There is no push server; nothing about the reminders is sent off your device.

Crash reporting (off by default)

Vrata can optionally send anonymous crash reports to help fix bugs. This is turned off by default and is only active if you turn it on in More > Privacy > Crash reporting. When enabled, a crash sends a diagnostic report (error and stack trace) to our crash-reporting provider. It is configured to exclude personal information such as your IP address and device identifiers. If you leave it off, no crash data is sent.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
